I've been absent for quite some time, but rumours of my demise were premature...
Definitely not dead yet...very much alive and kicking...
I think this has a bit of a shelf life, there's only so much you can take before you need a break...unfortunately the longer the break the tougher it is to come back with any enthusiasm, so the break gets longer and longer... and the harder it is to make yourself come backl lol
That being said, I am here right now....what tomorrow will bring? Who knows...
Much like real life these days I suppose ...
Anyway...back to the grind...just thought I'd pop in and say hello...break the ice so to speak....

For the first time in a long time, I actually spent a little time in the Manitoba Room yesterday...
Scary thought, huh?
Now I used to be a bit of a fixture in there a few years ago, but after a moderately bad experience with another chatter, and a bunch of folks leaving I kinda quit going in there

And, no, for those who never looked at it it is not a dick pic....
Actually, some people do think I'm a bit of a dick...so I guess you could be forgiven for making that mistake

However...the truth* is MUCH more windswept and interesting....

The *truth* is... I lost it in a bizarre Pirating accident...
I was sailing along minding my own business (while keeping a lookout for stray ships to board and for the navy ships coming to take me down) when my parrot, who was sitting on my shoulder at the time, said "Polly want a cracker".
Now, being a rough, tough Rover of the Seven Seas I don't carry crackers around - hate the crumbs in my pocket, it's so untidy 
How can I be expected to win the Mr Best Dressed Pirate competition this year with crumbs falling out of my pockets I ask you??
Anyway..... being the salty seafarer that I am, I turned to her and said "Fuck off Polly, you feathered pest"
At which point she pecked out my eye.

I'm not a big fan of social media, not that there's anything wrong with it, just not a big fan myself lol
Like most things invented by people, it's not the item itself that's at fault...just how people use it
Dirty laundry belongs in the laundry hamper in my opinion
One thing that always sticks in my head is "Once you hit send, you can't take it back" lol
That applies to email as well as public media....
You can never say "I didn't say that" when it's written down lol
I guess we're all still trying to figure it out, even after all these years
I'm in an odd position I suppose....
I'm of that generation that remembers what it was like before computers, and the internet and social media.....but yet I was young enough to be dragged along with the wave....
To me technology is a tool to be utilized, not the be all and end all in itself
And like all tools, it has to be treated with a modicum of respect
It'll bite you if you're not careful
That being said, it is a wonderful thing
Technology is responsible for some of my best memories and experiences
